Permit Types Available

  • New single family dwellings / modular homes
  • Commercial buildings
  • Residential additions, alterations, repairs
  • Decks, roofs, new structures
  • Electrical, gas, mechanical, plumbing
  • Siding and window replacement

General Residential Requirements

  • All submitted online via MyGovernmentOnline
  • Fences under 7' do NOT require building permit (but contact Planning for zoning)
  • Residential structures >200 sq ft require permit
  • Commercial structures >120 sq ft require permit

Contractor Licensing

Things to Know

  • 💡 Permits valid 6 months from issue; remain valid as long as inspection within 6 months
  • 💡 Expired permit + no inspections within 6 months = possible citation
  • 💡 General Contractor responsible for ensuring project is finalized and permit closed
  • 💡 Fences <7' don't need building permit but DO have planning/zoning requirements
  • 💡 Residential vs commercial square footage thresholds differ (200 vs 120 sq ft)
